Wake up, little Susie, wake up

I came home recently to find Frank and our middle grandson, Charlie, just hanging out on the couch.  They shared the same boyish grin on their faces.

"Mimi, I need to tell you something!" Charlie smirked.
Sure, Charlie, what's up? I asked.
"Mimi, Pop Pop has a girlfriend." he giggled.
"Really," I said, "what's her name?"
"Alexa," he said, "and she talks to him!"

If you haven't seen the commercials, Alexis is a "voice-activated speaker for in-home use with smart-home capabilities."  A friend had given Frank an "Alexa" for his birthday.  She can answer any question about anything... well, almost. 😀Frank's favorite thing about Alexa is that she can play any song he requests.

For years, my morning routine has included waking up at 5:30 am for coffee and my own quiet time with the Lord... not in any legalistic way, it's just become my comfort and joy to begin my day in His word.  Somehow this summer has proved a challenge to my early morning "norm".  So I asked for Frank's help in encouraging me to listen and respond to my alarm the following morning.  Just so happened that the next morning, Frank was awake and downstairs even before my alarm sounded.  As had become my new routine, when the alarm sounded, it was quickly met with my response popping the snooze button.
I did hear his voice,
reminding from downstairs that I wanted him to help me get up.
I did hear his voice,
calling my name to join him.
and then I heard his booming voice,
called out to his "girlfriend, Alexa."...

Alexa, play Wake Up Little Susie, NOW!
and she did.
I quickly called out to her to STOP... and she didn't.
I called out again for her to stop, and she still didn't.
After my 3rd plea, she once more refused...
So Frank called to her to stop, and she did.

By now... wide awake, I headed downstairs, grabbed my favorite cup, filled it with coffee and snuggled into my favorite chair with my favorite Bible!  So when do you meet with God and simply enjoy His presence, and His word?  The alarm is set,  the coffee pot is timed... join me, won't you?

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
23
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
